I obtained a box of recycled containers which I thought would make greatĀ sculptures.
The idea:
Have the kids to stack the containers and then glue them.
What happened:
Elmer’s glue didn’t work obviously. Hot glue would have melted in the sun, so I didn’t even try it. I also thought I could use Goop, but I ended up wasting several tubes. I even scratched the plastic to give it a little more grip, but it wasn’t enough.
I had planned on spray painting them white and then having the kids paint them, but that didn’t work either. I underestimated the lack of primer and used up 3 cans of paint before I was ‘finished’.
As time wore on pieces of the sculpture kept getting knocked over. I knew the kids would have a terrible time trying to steady their brushes and paint it, so I left it white. I put it up on top of the storage units, out of the reach of kids.
It was cool looking, but next time I’ll just predrill holes and have the kids stack them on a pole.
